Five best heat protect styling sprays for all hair types
If you use heat stylers like hairdryers, curlers or straighteners on your hair most days, then you'll probably already know how important it is to spritz on a good protective spray before you get started.
Without one, your hair is more likely to turn dry, damaged and it can even snap off.
Luckily there's a spray to suit every hair type, so if you have fine hair you can find one that won't weight it down, and if you have unruly hair then there are versions that give you an extra bit of conditioning at the same time.
We had our Notebook beauty team test out the latest ones promising to protect, hydrate, lift and add shine to your hair…
Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Big Blow Dry Spray, £6.99
Feature ed Emma says: ‘I sprayed this on damp hair and it gave me a weightless, salon-like bounce when dry.
'It also made my style hold well, and I had a few compliments for my hair.
Only downside is that when I brushed it out a day later, it felt like it had quite a lot of product in my hair.’
Pantene Gold Series Thermal Heat Protection Spray, £7.99
Tester Keesh says: ‘I was excited to try this range since it’s been made without sulphates, which are very drying on afro hair like mine.
'It does have argan oil in, so it detangled my hair nicely, but it just wasn’t hydrating enough.
'Plus, it was also heavily fragranced, which I didn’t love either.’
Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Multi-Purpose All-In-Oil Milk, £33, £33
Associate ed Jen says: ‘Even through chlorine and general holiday mayhem, my hair did retain some style and bounce while using this.
'You can also spray it on wet or dry hair, so second-day spruce up is an option.
'It may be expensive, but it’s worth the price for being such a good multi-use product.’
L’Oréal Professionnel SerieExpert Colour 10-in-1 Perfecting Spray, £15.50
Beauty writer Zoe says: ‘I can never get my blonde colour to stay for long after having it dyed, so I’ve been using this to see if it stays brighter for longer – which it does.
'It protects against heat of up to 230°C, softens, prevents split ends and adds shine.
'I use it every time I wash my hair now.’
TRESemmé Botanique Hairdryer Protection Mist, £5.49
