Madonna drops shocking new album art for Madame X featuring topless model with a rose piercing her nipple… as ‘disappointing’ tour ticket sales have ‘devastated’ the pop queen

Madonna dropped shocking new art for her latest album Madame X on Tuesday.

The Material Girl, 60, posted a snap to her Instagram account revealing a topless model with a rose pierced through her nipple and the caption: ‘Portrait of A Lady… Madame X. Album drops June 14th.’

And the social media promotion comes hours after a source told DailyMail.com exclusively that ticket sales for the Madame X Tour are ‘disappointing’ and a ‘mess’.

The racy picture was met with both praise and criticism as some found the artwork ‘beautiful’, while others felt it was too ‘risque’.

‘That’s such an incredible artistic album cover!’ gushed a fan.

‘Would you want Your Daughter to publish this kind of herself publicly?’ one user commented. ‘No way Instagram will leave this here!’ wrote another.

Meanwhile, her upcoming eleventh tour is struggling to find an audience.

Hot mess: And the social media promotion comes hours after a source told DailyMail.com exclusively that ticket sales for the Madame X Tour are ‘disappointing’ and a ‘mess’

‘Despite her team and promoters informing media that several shows were ‘sold out’ during a multi week lottery ticket sale, the shows and their remaining tickets hit Ticketmaster today. And it’s a mess,’ said the insider.

And although the Vogue singer scaled back on her tour venues – trading in stadiums for intimate settings – the numbers have not reflected a difference.

‘Despite being tiny venues, there are hundreds if not thousands of tickets left for each show’, added the source.

For an October 7 concert at the 2,100-seat BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, more than half of its $357 mezzanine seats were unsold as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Ticketmaster’s map.

In fact, Madonna’s opening night at the MET in Philadelphia on Saturday, December 7, Ticketmaster shows that there are more than 400 tickets up for sale.

A source close to the pop queen told Radar Online that she ‘doesn’t understand why her fans are not coming to support her new shows.’

‘She is really quite dumbfounded by this because she used to sell out entire stadiums in seconds,’ the insider explained.

The new album – Madame X – is due out June 14 which could help sales, but that might be unlikely as the songs have not found success.

All five new singles that have dropped – including Medellin – have failed to debut on the Billboard Hot 100.
