Sister Act! Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice's Royal Relationship Through the Years

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were bonded from the start. After all, Eugenie was born just 19 months after her older sister.

While their cousins Prince William and Prince Harry got most of the attention growing up, the girls enjoyed a little more privacy. Eugenie recently shared this sweet photo from their childhood on her Instagram.

Of course, parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson decked the girls out in awesome ’90s styles — including some amazing matching ensembles!

Fergie mastered the double pick-up in 1991 as they arrived to board the Royal barge and join the family’s yacht, Britannia.

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were too cute at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in May 1992.

Wedding ready! The girls served as bridesmaids at the 1993 wedding of former royal nanny Alison Wardley to royal bodyguard Ben Dady.

Although Prince Andrew and Fergie divorced in 1996, they remained friendly exes and coparents to Beatrice and Eugenie.

Here are the royal sisters with cousins Prince Harry and Prince William during a ski vacation in Switzerland.

“Throwback to school days. Clearly I was more excited than Beatrice!” Eugenie captioned a sweet photo on Instagram, shared just in time for the start of the school year.

Beatrice and Eugenie regularly took part in royal traditions, like attending the Christmas Day service at Sandringham Church with their father in 1997. (Note those amazing matching ensembles!)

The girls grew up sharing a passion for horses, just like their grandmother and other members of the royal family. Ironically, Princess Eugenie’s pony here is named “William.”

Beatrice and Eugenie have shared some awesome experiences, like meeting the Spice Girls with their mom in 1999.

There’s no bond quite like having a grandmother who also happens to be the Queen!

Of course, their most famous moment in the spotlight came at the 2011 wedding of their cousin Prince William to Kate Middleton, when their intricate fascinators stole the show (but not in a positive way).

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are regulars at the Royal Ascot, like in 2013 when they cheered  on Queen Elizabeth’s horse Estimate to victory.

Describing themselves as “each other’s rocks” in a joint interview with British Vogue‘s September issue, Eugenie revealed that the sisters often lean on each other when things get tough.

“There was a horrible article that had been written about Beatrice and she got really upset. We were just about to step out [at a Buckingham Palace garden party] and she had a bit of a wobble and cried. I was looking after her. And then about an hour later, I had a wobble and started crying and Bea was there for me,” she said.

Despite their close bond, they’re still siblings…who have had a few squabbles over the years.

“One of the biggest fights we ever had was about a pair of Converse trainers,” Beatrice joked. “We have the same size feet and both of us had identical pairs. One pair got trashed and the other sister may have swapped them.”

Eugenie hopes her personal Instagram account gives a look into their normal lives.

“We want to show people who we are as working, young, royal women, but also not to be afraid of putting ourselves out there,” Eugenie said in Vogue. “Nowadays it’s so easy to recoil when you see a perfect image on Instagram – but it’s important that it’s real. We’re real.”

Eugenie told Vogue that her older sister will serve as her maid of honor when she marries Jack Brooksbank on Oct. 12.

“Euge is amazing,” revealed Beatrice, adding, “She’s a very modern bride.”

The duo have supported each other’s philanthropic efforts, like when Beatrice accompanied Eugenie to New York City in July 2018, where the younger York spoke about her work as director of the Anti-Slavery Collective during the NEXUS Meeting at the United Nations Headquarters.
