Arsenal fans fume at ‘shameful’ club statement on Ramsey joining Juventus

It was announced on Monday that the 28-year-old has finalised his summer move to Italian giants Juventus after spending 11 years in North London.

He has agreed a four-year contract with Juve, and will be paid an astonishing £400,000-a-week.

The Welshman released an emotional statement once the news was announced where he said he leaves the club "with a heavy heart" and described his time there as "incredible".

During his time with the Gunners, Ramsey has won three FA Cups and two Community Shields.

This included winners in the FA Cup finals against Hull in 2014 and Chelsea in 2017.

But Arsenal have kept things VERY simple with their social media post – simply writing "thank you" and tagging their soon-to-be ex-player in it.

And Gunners fans are furious.

One fan wrote: "He deserved a hell of a lot more than that, terrible statement."

Stephen Afolabi wrote "Shame on you Arsenal", while Dom Bennett wrote that it was "Disgraceful treatment of an Arsenal legend."

"Walter" posted: "That's all? Thank you?"

And "Liv" wrote: "Thank you’ lol that’s it.. wouldn’t have ended our trophy drought without him."

Twitter user "Callux" posted: "Why is the statement so shit? try again please," and an Arsenal fan living in Spain added: "What the actual f*** is that statement?"

The club did, however, post a few more words on their official website.

It read: "Aaron’s made a fantastic contribution to our club since joining from Cardiff City in 2008.

"He has always been a consummate professional and will always have a special place in the hearts and memories of Arsenal fans around the world.

"We look forward to Aaron helping the team to a strong end to this season before he joins Juventus in the summer."

Ramsey seemed happier to elaborate on his time at Arsenal when he released a statement yesterday.

It read: "As you may have already heard. I have agreed a pre-contract agreement with Juventus.

"I wanted to leave a personal statement for all the Arsenal fans who have been extremely loyal and supportive.

"You welcomed me as a teenager and have been there for me though all the highs and lows I've encountered during my time at the club.

"It is with a heavy heart that I leave after 11 incredible years in North London. Thank you."

With Arsenal in fifth spot, level with Chelsea and a point behind Manchester United, Ramsey insists he is still fired up for helping them qualify for the Champions League.

He added:  "I will continue to give the team 100 per cent and hope to finish the season strongly, before heading on to my next chapter in Turin."
