Incredible picture of female Rory McIlroy lookalike getting married in the 60s unearthed

As Rory McIlroy basks in the honeymoon feeling of helping Europe win the Ryder Cup, an amazing photo has emerged of a female look-alike getting married in the 1960s.

The pretty bride tied the knot two decades before the Northern Ireland golfer was even born (1989).

But she bears an uncanny resemblance to the four-time Major winner.

And she looked just as happy then as the 29-year-old must be now.

After the exhilaration of toppling the USA by a huge 17.5 to 10.5 margin, McIlroy jetted off for another high this month – on the tallest glacier in the Alps.

He took part in a demonstration event on Switzerland's Aletsch, which peaks at 4,160 metres.

Around half a century earlier, a female version of the swing king was in the midst of her own special celebrations, looking as radiant as any bride could do.

And now, with perfect timing, that wedding day bliss has been thrust back into focus, thanks to an "eagle"-eyed golf fan.

Rory himself famously dated tennis star Caroline Wozniacki for three years, even being engaged to the Dane for five months.

That relationship ended abruptly in May 2014 after what Wozniacki said was a brief phone call from McIlroy.

And he admitted at the time:  "The problem is mine.

"The wedding invitations issued at the weekend made me realise that I wasn't ready for all that marriage entails.

"I wish Caroline all the happiness she deserves and thank her for the great times we've had."

McIlroy then married Erica Stoll in April 2017 after dating the ex-PGA of America employee for two years.

And it would surely be even harder to unearth a male version of blonde American beauty Erica than it was to find a female  copy of Rory..
