Mats Hummels makes shock £34m transfer return to Borussia Dortmund from Bayern Munich
BORUSSIA DORMTUND have confirmed Mats Hummels is making a shock return from Bayern Munich.
The 30-year-old German centre-back is heading back to the Signal-Iduna Park for £34million three years after leaving for Bavaria.
Hummels, who began his career in Bayern's academy, won three Bundesliga titles at the Allianz Arena after joining from Dortmund in 2016.
But the veteran defender is said to have fallen out of favour in Munich and negotiations with Dortmund begun.
An agreement between the two clubs was reached for the Germany international earlier today.

The deal will be confirmed once he has completed a medical check at Dortmund.
Hummels spent eight years with Dortmund, between 2008 and 2016, when he established himself as one of the world's leading centre-backs.
He was at the heart of Dortmund's defence when Jurgen Klopp led the club to two Bundesliga titles and runners up in the Champions League.
World Cup winner Hummels, who has 70 caps, was dropped from the German national team earlier this year as part of an overhaul.
Fellow Bayern team-mates Thomas Muller and Jerome Boateng also lost their place in the squad.
