McGregor and Khabib both suspended following UFC 229 brawl

Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov will be temporarily suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission pending a full enquiry.

The pair were involved in a brawl following their lightweight title fight at UFC 229 on Saturday night.

Both McGregor and Nurmagomedov will be given a 10-day suspension on October 15.

The NSAC will then vote on October 24 as to whether the rivals will be suspended indefinitely, reports ESPN.

Nurmagomedov has not yet been paid his $2million purse due to his involvement in the riot.

McGregor did receive his $3m after being initially cleared of wrongdoing, but could now be fined and banned after footage showed him throwing a punch.

Earlier this week, McGregor picked up a one-month suspension from the UFC on medical grounds.

The Irishman is safeguarded from himself by the regulations put in place by the organisation.

The UFC implement a strong stance on the health of their fighters, with a team of doctors in place to assess their condition and help rule on when they are permitted to next fight.

The fight smashed PPV records but it did not reach the viewings predicted by Dana White and McGregor.

The figures break down at around 1.9 million on traditional pay-per-view, and close to 480,000 via streaming, totalling 2.4m.

Ahead of the fight, McGregor suggested there would be much more, boosting his purse.

He said: “We’re estimating around 3 to 3.5million buys.

“I’d say I’ll close in around the $50million (£38m) mark. So, for a mixed martial artist to make $50million from a mixed martial arts bout, it’s quite breathtaking.”

The organisation has already cancelled Tukhugov next fight and could well sack him for punishment for his actions.
