Saturday racing tips: Saturday longshots to fill your pockets at Sandown from Jack Keene
I've been busy digging through the form and have found a couple of diamonds in the rough at Sandown.
The 888Sport Heroes Handicap Hurdle at Sandown is as competitive a race as you could wish to find, but I'm happy to play EMINENT POET (3.00) at 16-1.
Venetia Williams' eight-year-old ran out a decisive winner of an attritional C&D handicap 56 days ago.
He has gone up 8lbs for that, but he is proven in testing conditions such as these and will be staying on when others have cried enough.
Williams is still firing in the winners and this race could simply fall apart around Eminent Poet.
Jack Out The Box – Saturday's each-way pick
3.00 Sandown: Eminent Poet: 'C&D winner who will thrive under testing conditions'
4.10 Sandown: Duarigle: 'Well-bred sort who goes handicapping off a tempting mark'
In the finale at the Esher track, take a chance on DUARIGLE (4.10).
Paul Henderson's seven-year-old is bred for the job, being a half-brother to dual Grade 1 winner Tranquil Sea.
He is a winning pointer who has been handled considerately in his three hurdles outings to date, and he goes handicapping off an attractive looking mark.
The return to 2m4f at this stiff track looks ideal and this isn't a strong race.
