Stats reveal Man Utd and Liverpool are Champions League knockout specialists

The Reds have won an incredible 47 per cent of all knockout games in the history of the tournament.

No other side has won more than 33 per cent of their games at this point in the competition – not even the mighty Real Madrid.

Los Blancos sit second, winning a third of their knockout stage games, level with Bayern Munich.

Manchester United sit fourth on a respectable 32 per cent – the second-best record of all teams left in this year's competition, after sensationally ousting PSG in France.

Real crashed out to Ajax last week in a ridiculous turnaround at the Bernabeu, before Liverpool sent Bayern crashing out on their own turf last night.

Juventus and PSG are the only other teams to win more than 30 per cent of their knockout stage matches, at 32 and 31 per cent respectively.

Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund complete the top ten, with Atleti and Dortmund way behind Liverpool on just 21 per cent.

The stats all points to another deep run for Jurgen Klopp's Reds, who were losing finalists a year ago – to a Gareth Bale-inspired Real side.

Incredibly, Liverpool's win last night means England have FOUR representatives in the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since 2008.

That year, Man Utd beat Chelsea in an unforgettable penalty shootout in the all-English final.

The Premier League quartet will learn their quarter-finals fate on Friday March 15 – and CAN play each other at this stage.
