Samsung launches the budget A9 smartphone with four cameras
As if there weren’t enough phones out right now as there is, Samsung is releasing the Galaxy A9 and A7 smartphones to round off an incredibly busy year for mobile phones.
The big selling point of the new A9 model is that it’s the first mobile phone to have four rear cameras, according to Samsung – do we really need that many cameras?
Apparently we do, as the Korean company claims it will be one of the best camera phones available – and it has every reason to suggest so.
During its live broadcast from Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, Samsung showcased a number of great features that will help the budding photographer take excellent pictures in a massive amount of situations.
Aimed exclusively at the Instagram generation, the A9 will launch in the UK in November, starting at £549 – which is a great price-point considering what it can do compared to other, larger smartphones.

Samsung has aggressively priced this phone to avoid competing against its other 2018 models, the S9 and Note 9, which have swiftly taken plaudits as the best phones of the year.
However, the phone’s camera is likely to compete heavily against the other Samsung models, thanks to its 24-megapixel (MP) main camera that is capable of a huge amount of cool things.
Ultra-wide photography makes it easier to take bigger photos and cram more into your shots, while the 5MP depth-lens help to add focus and blur for those crisp, professional Gram photos.
We haven’t even mentioned the other two cameras yet. The telephoto lens is capable of 2X optical zoom to help you take crisper pictures from further away, while an ultra-wide 8MP camera assists in the finer details of the perfect Instagram pic.

Honestly, the amount of cameras in this thing is absurd, and even we would struggle to wrap our heads around the tech. However, Samsung has helped out the future photographers of the world, by implementing a bunch of AI software to help you take the best pictures possible.
These pictures will all look fantastic on the 6.3″ Super AMOLED display, which is Full HD. The super huge screen is great for photo editing, so you can touch up your snaps for the perfect shot.
An eight-core processor with 6GB of RAM will make light work of your tasks, and you can snap all day long, happy with the knowledge you will never run out of battery thanks to the massive 3,800mAH power supply.
It is worth noting that all these features come for just under £200 less than the Samsung Galaxy S9, which is remarkable, given that the S9 is only a few months old.
We will be updating this article with all prices and deals as we receive them.
