You can now watch YouTube on your Nintendo Switch
Nintendo has answered all our Christmas wishes early by releasing a YouTube app on the Switch. As an extra stocking filler, it’s free to download.
YouTube viewing is now available on the portable console – something which many fans have been demanding for quite a while. An endless well of content is now open to you if you ever get bored of Mario Odyssey – though we don’t understand why that would be the case, because that game’s awesome.
Nintendo tweeted out the news on its social channels’ last night, much to fans’ delight.

A bunch of great features have been loaded into the app, including support for 360 videos – you can control the viewing angle using the left joystick, or the main buttons on the Switch.
You can even use the touchscreen to navigate YouTube’s many, many videos for ease of use.
Simply download the app from the store and then, if you have one, sign into your Google account to load clips straight into your feed, giving you access to all your subscriptions and favourite content creators on the go.
You can download content for viewing when you’re away from a connection, and you can stream movies into your library for viewing when your Switch is docked into your TV.
That feature’s pretty handy if you cant access YouTube on your TV, but most Smart TVs can do that, so its use is limited.
YouTube is now the second video steaming service available on your Switch after Hulu, which was updated a year ago in November.
Fans are still waiting for apps for Netflix, Now TV and Amazon Prime Video, but we have a sneaky suspicion you may have to wait a little while to get access to that.
