Airport terminal shut down after man refuses to open bag for embarrassing reason
Flights are delayed for all kinds of reasons during the summer season. Strikes and weather conditions are among the more common problems we face.
On Tuesday, travellers in Berlin got caught up in a rather unexpected airport issue involving sex toys , according to CNN .
Staff at Berlin’s Schönefeld airport became suspicious after the owner of a large bag would not open it to reveal its contents – insisting it was full of "technical stuff".
Cue one very red-faced passenger when the truth emerged.
Because it was not clear what the bag contained from security scans, an alert was issued.
Airport terminal D was closed at 11am while the bag was investigated what police described as "suspicious content in a luggage piece".
The owner was called to discuss the matter over the speaker system, but was reluctant to disclose what was in the bag – causing panic among staff.
Reports say the contents of the bag included a variety of sex toys, such as a vibrator.
Cheap ways to get to the airport
An hour-long investigation involving a bomb-squad followed to determine that the kinky objects were not dangerous. The airport terminal reopened at midday.
The incident occurred during one of the busiest months for airport travel in Europe – as many people are going on holiday.
According to the most recent Europa data , 62 per cent of EU residents take part travel for tourism purposes, going on 1.2 billion trips – with July and August being the busiest months.
