Ex-Manchester United star Nicky Butt puts £7m mansion up for sale after arrest and love split

FORMER Manchester United and England ace Nicky Butt has put his £7million mansion up for sale after his arrest and love split.

The 44-year-old was arrested and bailed after a woman “suffered a cut to her hand” at the marital home he used to share with ex-wife Shelley Barlow.

Sources close to the Man United academy chief confirmed they have “been divorced a few years but kept it quiet”.

One neighbour said: "Nicky and Shelley decided it couldn’t work. It’s obviously a very difficult time for everyone and it seems tensions might have boiled over."

Locals said three cop cars arrived at the gated country pile in Hale, Cheshire, earlier this month, before Butt was taken away.

ARRESTED

Butt has moved out and is living in a flat nearby while Shelley lives at the house with their two children.

According to the Daily Mirror, he has put the “stunning, detached family residence” on sale.

The listing for the six-bedroom home says it comes with two main reception rooms, a swimming pool, leisure suite and seven bathrooms.

Nicky and Shelley bought the pad for £4.4million in 2007 and tied the knot the following year. It is now believed to worth £7million.

CUT TO HER HAND

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: “Police were called at around 2pm on Tuesday 16 April, 2019, to reports that a woman had been assaulted at a house on Broadway, Hale.

"The woman received a small cut to her hand and does not require hospital treatment.

"A 44–year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in custody for questioning."

Butt made 387 appearances for the club between 1992 and 2004, and was a key member of the famous "Class of '92" alongside the likes of David Beckham and Ryan Giggs.

In total he won six Premier League titles, a Uefa Champions League and three FA cups after making his debut in 1992.

He also won 39 England caps during his career.
