Lily Allen today joined Corbynista keyboard warriors in suggesting the timing of Harry and Meghan’s baby announcement was part of a conspiracy to distract the public from troubled Brexit talks.

Echoing comments from supporters of the Labour leader on social media, the singer tweeted this morning: ‘That should take the heat off Brexit Shambles for a week. Well played everyone.’

The 33-year-old also re-tweeted a post suggesting: ‘The Duchess Of Sussex is pregnant and the baby is due just after the Brexit deadline’.

Miss Allen’s comments on Meghan and Harry (left, at Princess Eugenie’s wedding on Friday) were echoed by some of her supporters online. The singer is seen on the right performing at a concert in Austin, USA, on Friday

Referring to the official day of the UK’s departure from the EU, Miss Allen also cynically quipped: ‘The induction at the Lindo Wing has already been booked.’

There were plenty of other Corbyn fans keen to spin the happy news as part of a plot orchestrated by the government and so-called MSM (mainstream media).

Kevin Davies, who has a sign on his Twitter profile photo reading ‘with Corbyn’, posted: ‘Distraction by the establishment MSM again.’

On Facebook, Kevin Richards – whose profile shows him with Corbyn – wrote: ‘Well well well, just as the Government enter the final stage of Brexit and show to the country what a complete hash they have made of their task, a Royal baby is announced.

‘How convenient for the Government and the MSM a complete distraction of what may be a very serious decision that will impact on every person in the UK.’

Giles Blower wrote: ‘The royals have agreed to coincide a royal “big news” announcement at any time when the Tories are in deep s***.

‘I made this point back in April just after Philip’s ill health had twice coincided with a Brexit deadline and then Harry and Megan’s wedding announcement.’

Miss Allen, who has spoken about her support of Mr Corbyn in the past, is well-known for her controversial and sometimes misinformed posts on social media.

In January, she caused fury after claiming the victims of the Rochdale grooming gang would have been ‘raped or abused by somebody else at some point’.

Following the Grenfell Tower Fire, she claimed to Channel 4 News that the death count had been ‘downplayed by the mainstream media’.

She suggested the number of victims was ‘much closer to 150’. The final death toll from the tragedy was finally confirmed to be 71.
