M4 Berkshire crash – two passengers killed and six people injured after crash between lorry and a minibus

The motorway was closed in both directions between junction 14 at Hungerford and Junction 13 at Chieveley causing travel chaos.

South Central Ambulance Service sent three helicopters and six ambulances to help people trapped in their vehicles.

Two passengers who were in the minibus died at the scene while three other people including the driver have been rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

Three others were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Thames Valley Police are also at the scene and have urged drivers to take alternative routes.

A spokesperson said: "Thames Valley Police is currently on the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the M4 in West Berkshire.




"At around 12.20pm today (11/10) there was a collision between a heavy goods vehicle and a minibus.

"The road is currently closed eastbound between junction 14 at Hungerford and junction 13 at Chieveley.

"The closure on the eastbound carriageway is likely to remain in place for several hours."

James Lloyd wrote: "M4 closed due to worst accident I've ever seen in many years of driving.

"Avoid area and if you're caught in the tail back be patient.

"I promise you don't want to get past it until emergency services are finished."

The westbound carriageway has been reopened but the east remains closed.
