The incident happened the Northwest station at about 1.30pm. He’d initially tried to take an elevator, but when it didn’t arrive after 10 or 15 seconds he lost patience and opted for the escalator.
Metro officials said the elevator is fully functional and was working normally at the time.
The disabled man was then seen holding on to the handrails on either side as he rode the escalator.
