Aston Villa in talks with EFL over Championship club’s cash crisis

Crisis club Aston Villa have been offered help by the EFL.

Villa owner Dr Tony Xia is desperate to raise funds and secure fresh investment after losing the Championship play-off final.

Villa have had to strike a deal with HMRC over a £4million tax deal after missing a payment.

Embattled Xia has also sacked CEO Keith Wyness who explored administration for the club.

An EFL spokesman said: “The EFL is in dialogue with the club and will offer any practical assistance, where appropriate.”

Star midfielder Jack Grealish, 22, is expected to be sold this summer, with Chelsea and Tottenham both mooted as potential destinations.

However, Mirror Sport understands the midfielder is away on holiday and waiting to learn the club’s plans.

Will Aston Villa return to the Premier League in the next five years?
