Caprice Bourret ended her partnership with Hamish Gaman

‘In the end it became completely unworkable’: Dancing On Ice star Caprice Bourret ended her ‘toxic’ partnership with Hamish Gaman because he ‘pushed her too hard’

  • The American model, 48, failed to appear in the show’s opening number on Sunday night, sparking speculation she had pulled out of the competition
  • Host Holly Willoughby then revealed that Caprice had ‘parted ways’ with her partner Hamish Gaman, adding that he still ‘very much part of our team’
  • But insiders claim relations between Caprice and Hamish became increasingly difficult, resulting in a backstage row prior to Sunday’s show
  • ‘She felt he was pushing her too hard in training and Caprice started to struggle,’ a source revealed
  • However a separate source told MailOnline:  ‘She’s actually always wanted more hours on the ice and no days off’
  • An ITV spokesperson confirmed to MailOnline: ‘We’re pleased to say that Caprice is back on the ice today in training and very much working towards returning to the show on Sunday night’

Dancing On Ice star Caprice Bourret ended her working relationship with professional skater Hamish Gaman because he was ‘pushing her too hard’ during their weekly rehearsals.

The pair did not feature during Musicals Week, with hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield revealing Caprice, 48, would not take part after abruptly ‘parting ways’ with the professional skater.

And insiders claim relations between Caprice and Hamish became increasingly difficult, resulting in a backstage row prior to Sunday’s show.

All over: Dancing On Ice star Caprice Bourret reportedly ended her working relationship with professional skater Hamish Gaman because he was ‘pushing her too hard’

A source told The Sun: ‘Caprice’s relationship with Hamish was harmonious at the start but as time went on they became more strained.

‘She felt he was pushing her too hard in training and Caprice started to struggle.

‘In the end it became completely unworkable for them to carry on and after speaking with the bosses they called it quits. It was getting toxic so stopping the partnership was best for everyone.’

Division: Insiders claim relations between Caprice and Hamish became increasingly difficult, resulting in a backstage row prior to Sunday’s show

However a source close to the star has since denied the claims, insisting Caprice has always been keen to spend as much time in rehearsals as possible.

‘The “pushing her too hard” comment is untrue. She’s actually always wanted more hours on the ice and no days off,’ an insider told MailOnline.

‘They never had a big row. Just didn’t happen. There have never been raised voices. Sometimes people just don’t get along without there being a huge argument. That just didn’t happen.’

Tension: ‘Caprice’s relationship with Hamish was harmonious at the start but as time went on they became more strained,’ a source claimed

The morning after her absence from Sunday’s show, Caprice was seen leaving a north London ice rink with professional skater Oscar Peter.

The three times Swiss national champion and former European and world figure skating competitor now works as a coach and choreographer to aspiring skaters – and is rumoured to be the American star’s new partner.

An ITV spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘We’re pleased to say that Caprice is back on the ice today in training and very much working towards returning to the show on Sunday night.’

New partner? The morning after her absence from Sunday’s show, Caprice was seen leaving a north London ice rink with professional skater Oscar Peter, prompting speculation that he has replaced Hamish

The announcement that Caprice and Hamish had parted ways sparked a hysterical reaction from viewers who demanded to know the truth behind Caprice’s absence, kicking off Sunday’s show in dramatic fashion as the other ten couples took to the ice to perform to some of the world’s most iconic musical hits.

Flocking to Twitter, one fan posted: ‘Caprice and Hamish have ”parted ways”. What does that mean?’ while another added: ‘Guys did I miss something? What’s happened between Caprice and Hamish? Live for a bit of #DancingOnIce dramz.’

A third also tweeted: ‘Everybody on Dancing On Ice trying to find out what happened with Hamish and Caprice,’ while one also wrote: ‘Does anyone know what happened with Caprice and Hamish? That was the oddest announcement ever.’

A fan also asked: ‘What the HELL happened between Caprice and Hamish? They’ve parted ways! I need the tea.’

MailOnline has contacted a representative for further comment.

Dancing On Ice continues on Sunday at 6pm on ITV.
