Chris Evans: Virgin Radio DJ makes ‘rule’ with wife after ‘pressure’ becomes too much
Chris Evans reveals he’s got a new ‘Friday rule’ with wife
Chris Evans, 54, and his wife Natasha Shishmanian, 39, have decided not to put pressure on themselves every Friday night, as it became too much and too stressful. The Virgin Radio host spoke about this new “rule” they had devised on-air and admitted they felt better for doing it.
Friday evening is part of FriDAY, you can carry it on from the evening and it can be hard sometimes
Speaking to co-stars Vassos Alexander and Rachel Horne, he said: “We’ve made this new rule about Friday’s in our house.”
“It’ll change, once you’re open to discovering new things about your own life.”
He explained that the weekends are different for them and the pressure to do something every week to beat the other, was difficult.
“What Tash and I discovered for the first time after being together for 15-years, was last Friday when we put too much pressure on Friday night.”
Due to the strict nature of this third lockdown, we are all still confined to our houses.

But despite not having proper plans, Chris added that he and Tash were “chomping at the bit” for Friday night.
“Because Friday evening is part of FriDAY, you can carry it on from the evening and it can be hard sometimes,” he said.
“So, we’ve decided to keep our night dryish – not totally, obviously – but have the night we’ve always been trying to have, which is hugely successful, it has to be said, out of those 15-years,” he giggled before explaining what they did last week.
“Last Friday, it was 9:15pm and we were both so tired we thought, ‘Shall we have a glass of wine?’ but then said, ‘Let’s do this tomorrow, that makes a lot more sense.'”
“If you take the pressure off the Friday, you get the night you wanted anyway!”
Chris then sat back and wondered if he was overthinking the whole thing, but admitted the rule was there to stay – for now.
And it’s no wonder the former BBC host looks forward to the weekends, as he’s been having quite a stressful time at work, it seems.
It comes after Graham Norton joined the Virgin Radio team, and Chris became jokingly rather bitter about the millions of listeners that were tuning into his weekend show.
His jealousy was all in jest of course, but he couldn’t help but take a few cheeky swipes at his radio rival.
“We’d like to get to two million as our target!” he said of his own show.

Graham gets 20-million for Saturday and Sunday alone, but Chris admitted to not knowing his actual figures, noting that his streaming ratings were “impressive”.
“Not as impressive as Graham’s of course because he seems to be from another radio planet,” he chuckled, as co-stars Rachel Horne and Vassos Alexander stifled their laughter in the background.
“It was my recommendation to the management that he come here!” he groaned.
“I don’t regret it at all…
“It’s fine, it’s fine that Graham’s doing do well on Saturday and on Sunday too,” Chris joked sarcastically, but pointed out that his weekend success was the “bigger issue”.
“Not only is he smashing it on Saturday’s, but he’s smashing it on Sunday’s as well! Well done!”
There was a pause as the ex Top Gear star took a little breather from his rant, admitting he broke a sweat as he deep breathed down the mic.
The Chris Evans Breakfast Show airs weekdays at 6:30am on Virgin Radio.
