Emma Thompson dances energetically at An Audience With Adele concert

‘She’s having the night of her life!’ Adele fans go wild for Oscar-winner Emma Thompson’s energetic dancing as singer showcases new songs during star-studded TV special

Adele wowed a crowd of friends, fans, and celebrities with her An Audience With Adele concert at the London Palladium, which aired on Sunday night.  

And one A-list attendee didn’t hold back from busting some moves during the performance as Dame Emma Thompson was spotted pulling some energetic dance moves during the concert.   

The 62-year-old merrily threw her hands in the air and twisted from side to side before instructing the rest of the audience to get on their feet as Adele sang Rolling In The Deep.

Fans quickly flooded to Twitter to show their appreciation for Emma’s lively display. 

‘Emma Thompson is having the night of her life,’ wrote one viewer, while another added: ‘Emma Thompson [is] being Adele’s hype woman tonight.’ 

A third said: Protect Emma Thompson at all costs,’ while another advised: ‘Live your life like Emma Thompson at #AnAudienceWithAdele.’ 

Another viewer observed: ‘You can tell Emma Thompson has had her fair share of raves back in the day.’  

Outshone: Adele wowed a crowd of friends, fans, and celebrities with her vocal talents but Twitter hailed Emma the breakout star of the evening as she busted a move to the ballads

A sixth person said: ‘I want to enjoy my life as much as Emma Thompson is enjoying her evening.’ 

While another commented that she was dancing near the Harry Potter actress Emma Watson, writing: ‘Ahhh Emma Thompson and Emma Watson dancing.’ 

‘Emma Thompson’s dancing is literally giving me life May we always dance as fearless as she does,’ gushed another. 

‘Emma Thompson dancing to Adele is literally a whole mood,’ added another. 

While former Radio1 presenter Nick Grimshaw demanded: ‘ITV make a show about Emma Thompson’s dancing.

Elsewhere in the episode, Adele told the audience how if she could collaborate with anyone in attendance it would be actor Daniel Kaluuya. 

The flattered Get Out star was gobsmacked which elated viewers at home who said on their socials: ‘Daniel Kaluuya’s reaction when Adele says that she wants to collab with him. Amazing.’ 

Another added: ‘Adele stanning Daniel Kaluuya makes complete sense with my fantasy. That’s taste!’

She also revealed how she used her fame to get out of trouble when she was pulled over by police in the US.   

The hitmaker was asked by Hollywood legend Samuel L. Jackson if she’s ever used her ‘Adeleality’ to get herself out of a parking ticket.

And though she had never got a ticket, the Grammy-winner recalled a time when she was pulled over while driving to the supermarket in Los Angeles in a rental car with windows that were ‘tinted too dark’.

She told the star-studded audience: ‘I was in the fast lane, and I was driving a rental and the windows were tinted a bit too dark or something.

‘I was on my way to the supermarket and I was minding my own business and a police car pulled up behind me and I didn’t know what to do, so I just stopped!

‘So he pulls me over and I followed him. I gave him my British driver’s license, which looked nothing like me because it was my photo from when I was 17.

Fortunately, the officer’s wife had phoned him and she screamed at him and told him who she was – and Adele was let off.

The ‘Hello’ hitmaker continued: ‘He goes back to the car and he comes back and he’s on the phone with his wife who is screaming her head off.

‘And he’s like, “I’m so sorry, Adele. You do whatever you need to do.” So she saved the day really.’ 

Perks: Fortunately, the officer’s wife had phoned him and she screamed at him and told him who she was – and Adele was let off 

Earlier in the evening, the superstar halted her rendition of her hit song Easy On Me as she was nervous about performing the emotional track.

After abruptly pausing, she swore: ‘No stop, start again! I’m s******* myself.’ 

The ‘Skyfall’ hitmaker carried on with the song and the crowd erupted into applause as she nailed the high notes.

Many fans got emotional at Adele’s stunning performance as one said online: ‘The lamp in my living room watching me duet with adele when she sings hold on.’ 

While Nick Grimshaw admitted: ‘Going to try to make it through An Audience With Adele without crying… 

‘I was suffering a 10/10 hangover on the actual night and was an actual crying mess.’

Viewers at home had fun spotting the famous faces in the audience, which also included Dua Lipa, Boy George, Idris Elba and Stormzy. 

‘Me watching An Audience With Adele and spotting all the celebs,’ said one alongside a snap of Leonardo DiCaprio pointing. 

‘Imagine getting tickets to adeles first gig in the uk for years only to be sat behind boy george and that bloody massive hat,’ added another.

Amid sensational performance, Adele said she felt ’emotional’ to be back on stage in the UK for the first time in four years. 

She said: ‘I got really emotional. I haven’t been home for so long and I haven’t played a show here for so long.

‘I’m very, very nervous! Course I b****y am.

‘I’m a big fan of An Audience With – it used to be the highlight of my life whenever it was on- I’m so thrilled to be doing it tonight, very very excited.’ 

Touching: Amid sensational performance, Adele said she felt ’emotional’ to be back on stage in the UK for the first time in four years 

Adele hadn’t performed a concert in the UK since her Wembley Stadium shows in June 2017. 

But, she is set to make a comeback next year, having recently announced live shows in London in 2022. 

The lucky celebrities who got to see her live once again shared their excitement ahead of filming for the show. 

Dancing queen Emma Thompson said:  ‘I’m just so excited to see one of the greatest singers of all time.’
