Flea Buys Unique California Compound
Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and his wife Frankie Raydie have purchased a two-home complex sitting on 5.7 acres in La Crescenta, California, a mere 20 miles away from Downtown L.A.
Sellers, Lari Pittman and Roy Dowell first listed the “architecturally significant” property for $7.9 million but later dropped it to $4.25 million, which is what Flea paid.
The first house on the property was designed by architect Richard Neutra back in 1952 and features two bedrooms and one bathroom, complete with a modern kitchen. The adjacent building was later constructed by Michael Maltzan in 2009, and the house, which is “dissected and portioned into a series of triangles and polygons” features one bedroom and a bathroom.
Facing a beautiful hillside, the 1,350 square-foot property has a courtyard in the middle and the two houses are connected by a driveway.
The purchase comes within weeks of the couple listing their Los Feliz estate at almost $3 million.
