He is preparing to make his return to the screen as the nation’s favourite Smithy.
But James Corden, 40, took a break from filming Gavin and Stacey in Wales as he took his son Max, 8, to watch a friendly match between Fulham FC and West Ham United in London on Saturday.
The TV presenter, 40, kept it comfortable in a black T-shirt underneath a £1,600 navy blue and red Gucci cardigan as he eagerly watched the game from the stands.

The Late, Late show host teamed his casual attire with a pair of blue jeans as he watched the players take to the pitch.
James later exchanged a warm hug with the former England striker Bobby Zamora, 38, as the pair met inside The Flag Hospitality Suite at the stadium.
The actor’s appearance comes as avid Gavin and Stacey fans eagerly anticipate the return of the much-loved British sitcom for a one-off Christmas special.
James, who created the sitcom alongside actress Ruth Jones, made the announcement in a Twitter statement in May by sharing a picture of the new script.

He wrote: ‘Ruth Jones and I have been keeping this secret for a while… We’re excited to share it with you. See you on Christmas Day @BBCOne #GavinandStacey.’
The drama followed the story of Gavin (Mathew Horne), an ordinary boy from Essex in England and Stacey (Joanna Page), an ordinary girl from Barry in Wales, who spoke on the phone every day at work before finally meeting and getting married.
The pair were joined by best friends Nessa, played by Ruth, and Smithy, played by Corden himself, as they navigated the trials and tribulations of love and marriage.

In 2018, the show ended with Smithy stopping Nessa and Dave’s wedding ceremony and an excited Stacey discovering that she was finally pregnant.
The emotional episode concluded with the foursome together six months later on Barry’s beach, with Stacey displaying a blossoming baby bump.
The hour-long episode, which will offer an insight into the characters lives after a nine-year hiatus, will also see the return of the show’s original cast members Rob Brydon, Larry Lamb, Melanie Walters and Alison Steadman.
