Jeanne du Barry is a historical drama based on the title character, a favorite of King Louis XV, played by Depp.
The title character is described as, ‘a young working-class woman hungry for culture and pleasure, uses her intelligence and allure to climb the rungs of the social ladder one by one.’
Jeanne and Louis fall ‘madly in love’ and she moves in with him in Versailles, which scandalizes the French court.

The film is Depp’s first live-action project since 2020’s Minamata, though he is about to go back to work behind the camera as a director, with Pacino as a producer.
It was reported in August 2022 that Depp will direct Modigliani, a film about Italian sculptor and painter Amedeo Modigliani.
Pacino is set to produce the project alongside Depp and Barry Navidi, with production slated to begin sometime this year.
There are no release plans at this time and it is not clear exactly when filming will begin.
