Khloe Kardashian speaks about being the subject of heavy online trolling and the mental toll of social media: ‘Criticisms are more amplified’

Khloe Kardashian has spoken about the mental toll social media has had on her ahead of the premiere of The Kardashians on Hulu.

Khloe, 37, who has often been the subject of heavy online trolling, said criticism is ‘amplified’ on social media. 

‘I think, especially like when we first started (the show) it was like MySpace, there wasn’t much and Facebook of course, but there wasn’t like Instagram or Twitter,’ she told Australian radio star Kent ‘Smallzy’ Andrew on his podcast Smallzy’s Celebrity Small Talk.

She went on to say that being on TV back in the late 2000s didn’t come with the intensity of social media users nowadays.    

E!’s Keeping Up With The Kardashians premiered in October 2007 and in 2022 Khloe now has 234 million followers on Instagram. 

Overwhelming: ‘Being on TV before all of that is so different than now the amount of how amplified people’s voices are [and] criticisms… it is very overwhelming,’ Khloe said

‘Now there’s way more anxiety involved. And it does take a toll on your mental health, whether it be good or bad.’

Khloe said she and her famous sisters were lucky to be around before the start of the social media revolution as they have learned how to deal with it.

Khloe has hit back at haters numerous times on social media and she is known to be one of the more outspoken of the Kardashian/Jenner clan. 

Just days ago, she took to Twitter to take aim at commentators who say she holds daughter True, three, ‘too much’.

‘For the people who comment that I hold True too much,’ Khloe began. ‘Number 1 I’m gonna hold my baby until I can’t hold her anymore.’

‘Number 2 when there’s tons of cameras around, flashing lights, peps yelling things…I want my baby to feel safe. Worry about your own children. We good over here.’

It is was not immediately clear which comment Khloe was responding to, but the star received a huge amount of support from fans.

Khloe shares True with ex Tristan Thompson who she has said is a ‘great guy’ but ‘not the guy for me.’
