Liverpool fans left baffled by what happened to Salah during Roma clash

Liverpool fans were left baffled as Mohamed Salah received a chorus of boos and whistles from Roma supporters when he first touched the ball on Wednesday night.

It was the first time the Egyptian had played in the Stadio Olimpico since leaving the Serie A giants last summer.

After two seasons in Rome, where he scored 34 goals in 83 appearances, Salah sealed a £37million transfer to Anfield.

Salah came back to haunt his former side last week as he netted two goals in Liverpool’s 5-2 first leg win.

Despite the 25-year-old leaving the Italian outfit on good terms and not celebrating his strikes last week, Roma fans still decided to greet his comeback with boos and whistles.

Needless to say, Liverpool fans were left baffled by supporters’ actions.

One viewer tweeted: "If Salah is polite to the Roma fans by not celebrating his goals last week, why is it okay for them too whistle whenever he has the ball today?"

Another posted: "Hopefully Salah celebrates if he scores. He shows everybody with the celebration at the first leg, that he has a lot of respect for Roma and their fans straight up boo him. Wow."
