Love Island’s Ekin-Su’s secret signal to show friends she misses them decoded

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu's best friend has exclusively revealed the secret signal the Love Island star is sending her pals to show them she is missing them from inside the villa.

The 27-year-old is currently looking to find romance after being unsuccessful with fellow contestants Davide Sanclimenti and Jay Younger.

And her friend Arabella Ovenden has exclusively told OK! the way she knows the Turkish soap star is missing her and feeling homesick from Majorca.

She told us: "We have this sign – if she ever plaits her hair that means that she misses me. She did it almost straight away.

"It made me feel bad, girls can be very bitchy and it just didn’t seem like they were taking to her.

"It seems fine now that she’s come out of her shell. She won’t let people mess her about, she’s very genuine."

Discussing how she's found watching her friend on television, Arabella – who lives in Mykonos – said: "Ekin-Su's so funny.

"I know she was really nervous to show people this side of her, she didn’t want to be judged.

"But I think she’s come out of her shell. I was worried at the start because the girls didn’t take to her."

She continued: "She’s been exactly how she is with her friends back in London.

"Because she’s an actress, we were wondering if she might put on a persona. But no, that’s the Ekin-Su we know."

Love Island viewers rushed to defend Ekin-Su on Thursday night after Jacques O'Neill branded her a "headache" following an argument with Jay.

One Twitter user wrote: "Ekin-Su hasn’t done anything to deserve the response she’s gotten from the men in the villa or the men on Twitter. It’s classic misogyny and it’s disgusting."

Another added: "The treatment of Ekin-Su was so uncomfortable."

And fans felt that the other girls should have defended Ekin-Su, with one saying: "If I was Paige and I saw Jacques yelling at Ekin Su and calling her a headache even though she’s never done anything to him, that would immediately be an ick."

Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub
