Matt Lauer speaks out for first time in five months

Matt Lauer has broken his five-month silence after being canned by NBC over sexual harassment allegations, conceding he “acted inappropriately” — but denying ever forcing himself on anyone.

“I have made no public comments on the many false stories from anonymous or biased sources that have been reported about me over these past several months,” the disgraced former “Today” host told the Washington Post in a statement. “I remained silent in an attempt to protect my family from further embarrassment and to restore a small degree of the privacy they have lost. But defending my family now requires me to speak up.

“I fully acknowledge that I acted inappropriately as a husband, father and principal at NBC. However I want to make it perfectly clear that any allegations or reports of coercive, aggressive or abusive actions on my part, at any time, are absolutely false.”

The longtime anchor, 60, was dropped from NBC following a “detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.”

The dad of three has also been accused of inviting a woman into his office and pulling out his penis, and giving a female colleague a sex toy with an explicit note about how he wanted to use it on her.

Some NBC staffers said they had consensual sexual relationships with Lauer.
