Meghan King is dating in St. Louis… after Christian Schauf split

Meghan King is dating again in her new home of St. Louis but says it is ‘awkward’ navigating the scene as a single mom… following split from boyfriend Christian Schauf

Meghan King is continuing on with her quest for love, following her split from boyfriend of six months Christian Schauf in November.

And the reality star, 36, spoke candidly about navigating the dating scene as a single mother in her new home base of St. Louis in a recent interview with UsWeekly.

‘I was kind of dating, but then the [coronavirus] pandemic hit when I was starting to date. Then I’m dating in St. Louis, and that is a little bit more awkward,’ Meghan told the outlet.

‘When the guy comes to the front door, I’m like, “OK, do you come to the front door? Or do I allow you to be a gentleman, or do I hide my kids? Do I wait until they’re already asleep? How does this work?”‘

Meghan shares three children, daughter Aspen, four, and two-year-old twins Hart and Hayes, with her estranged husband Jim Edmonds, 50, whom she split from in October of 2019.

The former couple, who were married for five years have been embroiled in a bitter divorce battle with Edmonds moving on with girlfriend Kortnie O’Connor earlier this year.

Meghan admitted to UsWeekly that she has yet to find the perfect ‘balance’ between her dating life and family life, but she is ‘going to try to shield’ Aspen, Hart, and Hayes from her future romantic pursuits.

‘But also, a part of me says, “Look, this is Mommy’s life.”… I’m not going to have just a revolving door and make that a priority, my number one priority in my life,’ insisted the star.

She noted that ‘shielding’ is not the same as ‘hiding’ the men in her life from her children because that would be ‘hiding a part of what they are experiencing’ from them.

‘I feel like to hide it from my children is hiding a part of what they are experiencing, even peripherally, as part of their reality. I don’t want to do that either,’ Meghan explained, adding that she plans to try ‘a little bit of sheltering and a little bit of introducing.’

The Real Housewives Of Orange County alum said that she has started telling her four-year-old daughter Aspen that she is ‘going on dates when [she goes] out with [her] girlfriends too.’

Meghan said that she does this ‘so that [Aspen] doesn’t think of going on a date is just I’m leaving her for a boy.

‘I want her to think I’m just going out at night with a friend, she added.

Since splitting from Schauf in November, who she met on a dating app in May, King has been exploring the dating scene -in person and virtual – in St. Louis.

Unfortunately, Meghan told the outlet that dating in St. Louis is ‘a little bleaker’ than dating in Los Angeles because the ‘men overall are not quite as interesting, in [her] opinion.’

But she did admit that there are ‘definitely upsides’ to the dating pool in her new neck of the woods.

‘They are more, I would say, true to themselves, more family-oriented. There’s definitely pros and cons.

‘Which is all the reasons I love St. Louis and all the reasons I hate St. Louis, and vice-versa with L.A. I need to find that guy who’s the perfect mix of the St. Louis values with the L.A. attitude,’ she explained.

King moved to St. Louis after purchasing a spacious five-bedroom home in the area late last month.
