Nigella Lawson bites back after being urged to create less carbs

‘This was my dinner! It’s not an instruction!’ Nigella Lawson bites back after being urged to create less carb-based recipes while enjoying a pasta dish in a restaurant

She is known for her saucy innuendos and sumptuous feasts.

Yet Nigella Lawson was showing her sassier side on Thursday when she bit back at a follower on Instagram after sharing a snap of her dinner.

The culinary icon, 61, posted an image of her meal at London’s swanky Locanda Locatelli eatery and when she was schooled in carbohydrate consumption by one of her 2.5million followers, she was swift to give a superbly sassy comeback.

Uh oh! Nigella Lawson was showing her sassier side on Thursday when she bit back at a follower on Instagram after sharing a snap of her dinner

In Nigella’s original post, she shared a shot of her delicious-looking pasta dish.

She added a caption reading: ‘What a treat and a joy to be back at @locandalocatelli. I feasted on their lovely lobster linguine (among other deliciousnesses); the bowl of deep green behind, is their rapturous nettle and snail risotto.’

Beneath her picture and in response to the choice of pasta, one of her followers penned: ‘Can you do some low carb meals please? Carbs trigger insulin production which reduces the output of lipase which leads to fat absorption.’

Seemingly – and rightfully – stunned, Nigella responded by pointing out it was not a recipe but a meal: ‘@richardellisjones This was my dinner! It’s not an instruction’.

Huh!? The culinary icon, 61, posted an image of her meal at London’s swanky Locanda Locatelli eatery and when she was schooled in carbohydrate consumption by one of her 2.5million followers, she was swift to give a superbly sassy comeback

It’s dinner! Seemingly – and rightfully – stunned, Nigella responded by pointing out it was not a recipe but a meal: ‘@richardellisjones This was my dinner! It’s not an instruction’

The commenter in question was met with a number of sneering comments, to which he responded: ‘It was just a general question, nothing to do with questioning your tea Nigella. Gosh it seems like there’s a lot of highly strung people following you’.

In response to somebody else asking if she had dessert, she then revealed: ‘I had pistachio ice cream! And thank you – I’m so pleased’.

The exchange comes after Nigella admitted that she occasionally thinks ‘why didn’t I hold my tummy in’ while filming but that it makes her feel ‘even more uncomfortable’.

Talking in a candid interview, she insisted that she ‘doesn’t focus’ on what people say about her and nowadays her desire for comfort is ‘much greater’ than her vanity.

Nigella added that after reaching a ‘certain age’ in life she enjoys ‘lounging about flat out’ in her home and sticks to a ‘baggy black thing’ wardrobe.

Talking to People, the star said: ‘A lot of people in my family have died of cancer, and I don’t think you can witness that and equate thinness with health. It’s quite alarming.

‘I don’t focus on what people say about me, even when I’m filming. I occasionally think, “Oh, why didn’t I hold my tummy in?” but it doesn’t last because I was trying to be something other than I am, which would make me feel even more uncomfortable.

‘The shape of your body, that’s where the flesh settles, isn’t it? You can’t do an awful lot about that.’
