This Morning host Phillip Schofield has been married to his wife Stephanie Lowe for the past 27 years. The couple share two daughters together; Ruby and Molly.

Earlier this year, Phillip announced on his Instagram account that he was gay and later spoke about his sexuality with his co-star Holly Willouhgby on This Morning.

The ITV favourite has since admitted his “greatest concern” is for his wife and explained it wasn’t in his “nature” to hurt anyone.

His admission comes as he spoke openly about his future with his other half.

Speaking about the current status of their relationship, Phillip divulged: “We’re picking our way through. It’s a work in progress.”

He added: “I’m still married to Steph. With divorce, we’ve not discussed that at all.”

The presenter explained he has to “reconcile” himself before he makes any decisions and added it will take “time”.

“Steph is a work in progress,” Phillip commented.

“It is not in my nature to hurt people so I have to reconcile myself that I have done that.”

Phillip continued on Chris Evans’ podcast How to Wow: “I’ve tried very hard not to.

“How is it possible to come out and not hurt your wife? No of course it isn’t – my greatest concern is her.”

At the time of coming out, Phillip said of Steph in a statement: “I love her so much. She’s the kindest soul I’ve ever met.”

Elsewhere, the This Morning host was recently asked out on a surprise date during a live interview on BBC Radio 4 by Reverend Richard Coles.

The vicar probed into whether the presenter would be interested in joining him for dinner some time, as he said: “If you’re looking for a bit of company Phillip? Broadcaster, gay, in his middle years. Drink, dinner?”

Phillip responded: “Are you asking me out?”

Co-host Shaun Keaveny added: “I feel like a bit of a gooseberry now.”

Listeners were stunned by the exchange as they tweeted their admiration for Richard.

One listener typed: “Rev Richard Coles asking out Phillip Schofield LIVE on @BBCRadio4 just then, beautiful, bold.”

Richard is a member of 1980s band The Communards and starred on Strictly back in the 2017 series.

He lived with his civil partner Rev David Coles, who sadly died last December.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
