Prince Harry Informed the Royal Family About His Upcoming Memoir

The royal family was reportedly not taken by surprise with today’s announcement of Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir.

A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex confirmed to BAZAAR.com that he had very recently informed his family about the book, in which the prince will open up about living under the spotlight, dedicating his life to service, and adjusting to life as a husband and new father. BAZAAR understands that the duke would not need permission from Buckingham Palace to go forward with writing the book, which will be published in late 2022.

Harry released a statement explaining his decision to pen a book about his life and how it will focus on the man he is today, rather than focus solely on his life within the confines of the royal family.

“I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become,” Harry wrote in a statement. “I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story—the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned—I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”

Proceeds from Harry’s literary debut will go toward charitable organizations.
