Ruth Langsford is forced to apologise to viewers after consumer expert swears live on This Morning… leaving Eamonn Holmes VERY unimpressed

Ruth Langsford was forced to apologise to This Morning viewers on Monday’s show when their in-studio guest swore live on air.

Katie Morley was taking calls from people who needed consumer advice, speaking to a lady called Lesley who was recounting an issue she’d been having getting a refund.

Katie’s response was: ‘Oh I’m so sorry darling, that’s s**t!’

The consumer affairs expert was quick to put a hand to her mouth as she realised her error, with Ruth, 60, swiftly stepping in and apologising to viewers for the early-morning slip.

‘I do apologise for that!’ Ruth said, as Katie mumbled ‘so sorry!’

Ruth’s co-host and husband Eamonn Holmes, 60, looked extremely unimpressed at the error, after which Katie attempted to carry on with the segment.

Ruth and Eamonn have stepped in to host This Morning during the week while Holly Willoughby, 39, and Phillip Schofield, 58, are taking the summer off.

Last week, Ruth was left less than impressed when her husband interrupted her as they opened the show.

The couple were speaking to psychologist Emma Kenny about anxiety when Ruth began to read the autocue, however, she was quickly interrupted by Eamonn.

Ruth turned to the camera and began: ‘Yes there is the number to call to get in touch…’

Eamonn then said: ‘Monday morning blues OK? That’s exactly what we’re talking about. If it’s there and in the pit of your stomach and you want to share, please do.’

He then picked up on Ruth’s mood as he added: ‘I’m getting that look from my wife which says…’

Ruth retorted: ‘I was in the middle of reading the number out.’

Eamonn replied: ‘Darling I didn’t feel that you explained correctly what we…’

Ruth said: ‘Well now that you’ve mansplained it to all of us, lets carry on.’

The crew could be heard breaking into laughter as the couple awkwardly moved onto the next topic.

Ruth cheekily asked: ‘Do you want to read that bit or should I do it?’

This weekend, MailOnline revealed main host Holly had been forced to cut short her seven-week family holiday to Portugal to go into quarantine so that she can return on time to host This Morning.

The TV presenter had planned to fly home from the Algarve at the end of August after taking a summer break with husband Dan Baldwin, 45, and their children Harry, 11, Belle, nine, and Chester, five.

Summer is over: This weekend, MailOnline revealed main host Holly Willoughby had been forced to cut short her seven-week family holiday to Portugal to go into quarantine

But UK government Covid-19 restrictions mean all passengers returning to Britain from Portugal must self-isolate for 14 days.

As a result, the TV star flew home a fortnight early and will quarantine with her family at their London home to be back on screens by September 7.

A source told MailOnline: ‘Holly accepts that she has to go into quarantine and will follow the rules but she isn’t happy losing two weeks from her holiday.

‘The summer break is her chance to re-charge after a hectic period and to spend time with her family. After all the stresses of the pandemic she had been looking forward to relaxing as long as possible.

‘Instead of seven weeks away she has had to make it five – but it’s what she’s had to do to keep the This Morning team safe and to ensure she returns to the show on time.’
