‘I’m not embarrassed’: Rylan Clark-Neal is forced to relive his iconic X Factor meltdown but says he makes himself watch it every year

He was catapulted to fame after his iconic appearance on the X Factor in 2012.

And Rylan Clark-Neal was forced to relive his memorable meltdown on the show during Friday’s This Morning with Eamonn and Ruth.

The TV personality, 31, was mortified and even walked off screen as they replayed the clip of him being told by Nicole Sherzinger he was progressing to the lives of the talent show.

But the presenter returned to say the moment made him who he is today and reminds him of his past.

After he returned, Eamonn said: ‘Look, if that hadn’t happened son, none of the rest that followed would have happened so you shouldn’t be embarrassed about that.’

Rylan replied: ‘Do you know what, I’m not embarrassed.

‘I make sure I watch that once a year whenever I sit there and moan about early starts and things like that, and go “this is what it means to you”.

The star then did an eerily accurate impression of his friend and colleague Eamonn Holmes and his Northern Irish accent.

Rylan said: ‘Weirdly whenever I sit there and say that to myself, I hear it in your voice, going “son this is what it means to you, don’t forget that now, don’t you dare, you’re very lucky you are, you’re very professional.’

Ruth and Eamonn commended his impression, saying it was ‘very good’ while they chuckled together.

It comes after Rylan shared a behind the scenes photograph of himself and Davina McCall commentating on the Big Brother Best Ever Shows special on Tuesday.

The TV presenter admitted that his 12-year-old self had the ‘time of his life’ while filming for the 20th anniversary special of the groundbreaking reality show.

Beside images of Rylan and Davina holding up their arms to make a heart shape, he wrote: ‘So 12 year old me just had the time of his life today. Thank you @davinamccall . #BBUK forever! @e4grams @channel4.

Davina and Rylan, who hosted Big Brother and Bit On The Side respectively, will both comment on iconic episodes from the 19 series run.

The snap comes just as the first teaser for the special episode was revealed on Monday, citing a series of iconic moments in the brief clip. 

The clip reminisced on memorable moments such as Brigitte Nielsen’s surprise to see her former mother-in-law Jackie Stallone entering the house.

The words ‘there’s a good pussycat’ can also be heard, referencing the time contestant George Galloway pretended to be a feline. 

Big Brother: Best Shows Ever Show, will allow E4 audiences to get their reality fix for the summer revisiting some of the juiciest, most memorable Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother episodes.

Davina, who filmed from her home during lockdown, said: ‘I lived and breathed Big Brother for 11 years of my life. I didn’t miss one single episode.

‘Not one week goes by when I don’t quote Big Brother in some form. It made me laugh, it made me cry and most importantly it taught me to never judge a book by its cover.

Rylan, who presented Big Brother Bit On The Side and starred in the celebrity version of the show, added: ‘After being off air for nearly two years I’m so excited to be bringing some much-needed Big Brother back to our lives. 

‘Over the years Big Brother has brought ground breaking television moments for many reasons, but now so more than ever whilst we’re all playing the role of housemates, let’s go back and rewind the clock to some of our favourite ever episodes.’
