Sarah Jessica Parker is designing wedding dresses now
Between her iconic role as Manolo-hoarding Carrie Bradshaw on “Sex and the City” and her real-life SJP shoe line, Sarah Jessica Parker has certainly left her mark on the footwear industry. Now, the star is getting into the bridal game.
On Tuesday, Parker, 53, will launch her first collection of 10 bridal looks — a mix of dresses, bodysuits, skirts and jumpsuits available in sizes 0 through 14 and priced from $295 to $2,395 — exclusively on Gilt.
In keeping with her famously quirky style sense (Parker wore black for her own wedding to Matthew Broderick in 1997), SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker Bridal will offer pieces for the “modern, nontraditional” bride, according to WWD, including bright colors and details like cutouts and feathers.
“We recognized that there was this space where brides were looking for something that felt different,” Parker told the publication.
The “Divorce” star added that this particular bridal line isn’t just for brides. “The intent is they should be usable outside of that special occasion,” she said. “Whether you’re the person walking down the aisle, or you’re attending, these are all pieces that should be relevant in your closet. There are some pieces that feel more decadent and more specifically bridal. There’s no law saying they’re not appropriate for many other important occasions as well.”
Sound words from the woman whose “Sex and the City” alter ego once casually wore Oscar de la Renta to McDonald’s.
