Steven Gerrard emerges as frontrunner for major job
Steven Gerrard has emerged as the favourite for the Rangers job.
The Liverpool legend is currently in charge of the Under-18s side at Anfield as he takes his first steps in coaching.
Gerrard was pictured at Ibrox to watch the Old Firm clash with Celtic last month, fuelling speculation he could take over as boss in the summer.
The Scottish Sun reports Gerrard is in talks over the Rangers job with Graeme Murty in interim charge until the end of the season, with bookmakers pricing him as the clear favourite for the post.
Former England skipper Gerrard has been linked with a number of manageiral positions since hanging up his boots in 2016.
He had an interview for the MK Dons job but insisted at the time that he was not ready.
Gerrard has learned his trade with Liverpool’s youngsters and has taken charge of UEFA Youth League matches.
The 37-year-old is also a regular fixture on BT Sport, particularly during their Champions League coverage.
Rangers sacked Pedro Caixinha after just seven months in charge back in October.
Murty has guided the club to second in the table with Rangers, Aberdeen and Hibernian battling it out for a Europa League place.
