Bitter Twins slugger slams Yankees fans: ‘Can’t fix stupid’
Minnesota’s Logan Morrison wasn’t sweating the notorious Yankee Stadium crowd, or whatever heckling he’ll get this week over his earlier comments about Gary Sanchez. As a matter of fact, he’s borderline trolling them.
“They didn’t like the Gary Sanchez thing with the Home Run Derby,” Morrison told the Twin Cities Pioneer Press, “but you can’t fix stupid, you know?”
The Gary Sanchez thing was when he blasted what he called a “flawed system” back in July, one that put Sanchez in the Home Run Derby in Miami instead of him.
Morrison, who signed in Minnesota over the offseason, doesn’t know the way to the high road. Nor did he care about any flak he’s going to get from Yankees fans. The teams started a four-game series Monday, with the Yankees taking the first two games by a combined 22-4.
“I’ve heard a lot of stuff but it’s not original,” Morrison said before the series began. “It’s ‘You suck,’ all that kind of stuff. I mean, they’ll boo me, but other than that …”
When Morrison objected to Sanchez’s inclusion last year, Sanchez had just 13 home runs, while Morrison had 24 en route to a 38-homer campaign for Tampa Bay.
“Gary shouldn’t be there,” Morrison had stated. “Gary’s a great player, but he shouldn’t be in the Home Run Derby.”
For his part, Sanchez had taken the high road when asked about Morrison, replying, “It’s not my fault he didn’t get selected.”
