Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois to sue Marc Wilmots over accusations he leaked Belgium team selections to media
Sacked boss Wilmots claimed he was informed that Thierry Courtois sold national team news to journalists during Euro 2016.
Thierry Courtois denies the accusation and his son now says that they will file a criminal complaint.
Posting on Instagram, the Chelsea keeper said: "In the interview awarded by beIN SPORTS and taken over today in La Derniere Heure, Les Sports, Mr Marc Wilmots stated, among other things, 'That is to say that a player has shut down the line-up'.
"'That's bad, French journalists told me that they had proof that it was Courtois' father.'
"Mr M. Wilmots therefore repeats – not for the first time – publicly and gratuitously the accusations that constitute an assault on my honour and my reputation, as with my father.
"We have therefore jointly decided to file a criminal complaint with civil division of the party in respect of slander and defamation."
Wilmots was sacked after the 3-1 defeat to Wales at Euro 2016, which led to a bust-up with Courtois over tactics.
Wilmots had blasted: "I just have a problem when I make my selection at 6pm and at 6.15pm it is on all social networks.
"It means that a player has sold the selection. And that’s serious.
"It came back to me from several French journalists that Courtois' father was doing it. It means that you do not respect your homeland."
