Giants could look to fill these holes with three Day 2 picks

Here is what to look for from the Giants on Day 2 (Rounds 2-3) of the NFL draft:

Friday night is a huge spot for the Giants. They have three picks and plenty of work to do, with one selection in the second round (34th overall) and two in the third round (66th and 69th overall).

The second round could be the time to strike for an offensive lineman and there will be plenty still on the board. At guard, Will Hernandez of Texas-El Paso is a road grader who could start from Day 1, and it is likely the Giants are thrilled he is still available. Other possibilities are Braden Smith (Auburn), Jamarco Jones (Ohio State) and Austin Corbett (Nevada). James Daniels played center at Iowa but could transition into an NFL guard.

There is also a need for a right tackle, with no-show Ereck Flowers on shaky ground. That could lead the Giants to Connor Williams (Texas), Brian O’Neill (Pittsburgh) or Tyrell Crosby (Oregon).

An edge pass rusher is also a position of great need, and the options are limited but not extinguished. Harold Landry has the Boston College record with 26 sacks and would fit as an outside linebacker in James Bettcher’s defense. So does Lorenzo Carter of Georgia.
