Judd Trump reveals reason for shock defeat to Nigel Bond at UK Championship
Judd Trump admits he struggled to find rhythm following his shock defeat to Nigel Bond in the third round of the UK Championship on Monday.
The world No.1 appeared to be in control with a 3-1 lead but Bond battled back to win the next four frames with a sublime performance.
The 54-year-old then secured the upset in a dramatic final frame by brilliantly potting a long pink.
Trump’s defeat to the world No.98 means that he has missed out on becoming just the just the fourth player to hold all three Triple Crown titles, the World Championship, the Masters and the UK Championship, at the same time.
‘Anything can happen in snooker,’ Trump told the BBC after his defeat.
‘Nigel’s a good player, he’s been around a long time, he used his experience today and scored heavy as well.
‘To be honest I didn’t do a lot wrong, I can’t remember missing many balls, if he did miss it kind of went awkward.
‘It wasn’t like I was getting in there and missing anything, it was just one of those games, he kind of made it scrappy and it worked to his advantage.
‘It was the sheer fact the pace of the game was played at, it was very slow and very difficult for me to get a rhythm.
‘Everyone’s human in snooker, you can never get too excited or down on yourself after a result. It makes you appreciate when you do win even more.’
