A 1-1 draw also means United will have to wait to guarantee the Premier League's runners-up spot behind their city rivals.

The Uruguayan scored the opening goal of the game 15 minutes in with a scintillating 40-yard lob over Fulham keeper Alphonse Areola.

But as they seemed on course for the victory, they were made to pay for missing a whole host of chances.

Ademola Lookman just escaped the offside trap and his cross was expertly headed home by Joe Bryan in the 76th minute.
