Manchester City star Yaya Toure leaving club at end of season, confirms Pep Guardiola

The Etihad chief said the powerhouse midfielder is not part of his plans for next season.

He said: "Yaya Toure is not going to stay next season.

"The Brighton game, we will focus on winning and Yaya.

"We are going to try and win the game for him.

"Yaya came here at the start of the journey. Where we are now is because of what he has done. He was a key player."

Former Monaco and Barcelona star Toure, 34, leaves the club with two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two League Cups and an FA Community Shield.

Fans were gutted by news of his outgoing.

One said: "What a player he's been in the Premier League. One of the greats."

Another wrote: "Absolute legend. Toure CM 2011-2015 one of the best in the world."

A fellow user posted: "One of the best CM to grace the Premier League."

Another said: "Good luck. He was pretty much unstoppable when he was at his best."

Toure has featured in just nine Premier League games this season.

He previously threatened to leave City in 2014 after the club failed to remember his birthday.
