Manchester United were lucky to beat Arsenal, according to Jose Mourinho who expects Marouane Fellaini to stay

The Portuguese wants the big-haired match winner to stay at Old Trafford next season after the Belgian let his contract run down and flirted with European sides.

After his last clash with Arsene Wenger as Gunners boss, Mourinho said: “I think if it was a draw it wouldn’t be unfair.

“Arsenal [had] a good game, they defended well, but we were the team that tried to win that created a few more chances. But that is normal.

“We were a bit lucky to score, but we were stronger in the last 20 minutes.

“I think for 70 minutes that 1-1 was a fair result.”

When asked about the future of the much-maligned ex-Everton midfielder, the Old Trafford chief said he has never expected him to exit.

He said: “I think Fellaini will stay.

“We are trying to organise our team and are thinking about improvements.

“Until now, I haven’t lost one second thinking about replacing him because I think he will stay."
