Mo Salah is going to extreme lengths to keep fit for Champions League final

Mo Salah has been training at just ’20 per cent’ in order to preserve himself for Liverpool ‘s end-of-seaon run-in.

The forward has been a revelation at Anfield this season, scoring 43 goals in 47 appearances in all competitions.

He has helped his side reach the Champions League final where they will face Real Madrid on May 26.

But according to teammate Alberto Moreno, Salah has been wrapped in cotton wool by manager Jurgen Klopp.

"Salah is an incredible guy, he is doing an extraordinary year," he told the Spanish media after Liverpool’s semi-final win over Roma.

"I think that Salah trains at 20 per cent because he is afraid of getting injured. Salah now has Ramadan, I will eat and drink for him, something else I can not do."

Ramadan starts on May 15 and runs until June 14, meaning Salah will be fasting as his side prepares for their showpiece in Kiev.

Liverpool reached the final with a 7-6 aggregate victory after losing the second leg 4-2 in Rome.

And Moreno hopes to force his way into Klopp’s starting line-up having lost his place to Andrew Robertson this season.

"I still do not believe I’m going to play a Champions League final," he added.

"You have to tell Klopp to put me in the final, every player wants to play."
