Rui Faria emerges as ‘shock target for Arsenal’
Arsenal are considering a shock move for Manchester United assistant manager Rui Faria, according to The Sun.
The Gunners are on the lookout for a new boss with Arsene Wenger standing down at the end of the season after 22 years in north London.
Luis Enrique and Max Allegri are among the names in the frame, but a move for Jose Mourinho’s No.2 would be a surprise move by Emirates chiefs.
It is claimed he is one of 14 names on their wishlist as the Gunners prepare for life after Wenger.
The 42-year-old has worked with Mourinho for more than 15 years but it is reported that he harbours managerial aspirations of his own.
Fresh twist in Wilshere’s Arsenal contract saga
Arsenal have made an improved offer to Jack Wilshere in a desperate attempt to get him to stay.
Wilshere has been involved in a stand-off with his boyhood club after their first new-contract proposal of £90,000 a week — a £20,000 per week pay-cut from his current deal which expires in the summer, although their package did include incentives and add-ons.
The Gunners have now made a better offer in a bid to see them come to agreement.
It is believed this one is in excess of £100,000-a-week and they hope it will bring a breakthrough, as Wilshere is keen to continue at the Emirates under whoever ends up succeeding Arsene Wenger as manager.
The 26-year-old midfielder has had offers from other clubs to join them as a free agent — and get a big signing-on fee.
Promoted Wolves have put forward a big-money package and Everton are also keen, while there is interest from Italian sides AC Milan and Juventus.
Arsenal and Chelsea ‘in talks over £26million Italian’
Rivals Arsenal and Chelsea are both in talks to sign Italian international Bryan Cristante this summer.
His representatives are speaking to both clubs about a potential move to London from Atalanta, according to Sky Sports.
The 23-year old, whose parent club is Benfica, has starred in Serie A this term, scoring 12 in 41 appearances.
His form has caught the attention of a number of clubs cross Europe with the midfielder reportedly keen on a move to England.
Whilst Cristante is high on the wish-list, Atalanta do have an option to make his loan permanent at the end of the season meaning his fee could easily double.
