Sergio Ramos hails PSG team-mate Lionel Messi as 'best player EVER' in snub to ex-Real Madrid pal Cristiano Ronaldo | The Sun

VERY few players can say they have been able to train day-to-day and play alongside football greats Lionel Messi AND Cristiano Ronaldo.

Sergio Ramos is one of the lucky few who got to see the two footballing Gods up close at work.

The legendary Spaniard, 36, spent nine years playing with Ronaldo at Real Madrid.

Ramos and Ronaldo won everything that club football had to offer.

On a personal level, Ronaldo scooped up numerous individual accolades, including five Ballon d'Ors, while Ramos is hailed as one of the best defenders of his generation.

However, in the later stages of his career, Ramos has been able to link up with Messi at Paris Saint-Germain – a player the defender says caused a near-decade of suffering while the Argentine was playing for Barcelona.

Messi was, at times, simply unstoppable and Ramos and Co would resort to kicking lumps out of the 5ft7in magic man during El Clasico games.

Ramos says it's now nice to enjoy playing alongside Messi in the French capital, and has hailed the World Cup-winning Argentine as the GOAT of football, snubbing old Real pal Ronaldo.

In an interview with PSG TV, Ramos said: "There was suffering for several years playing against Messi.

"I am now enjoying him. He is the best player football has ever produced."

Ronaldo and Ramos went several years without speaking following the Portugal captain's departure from the Bernabeu for Juventus in 2018.

However, they were all smiles as they reunited last month in a friendly between Saudi All-Stars and PSG.

Ronaldo scored a brace in the 5-4 loss to PSG, while Messi got a goal for himself.

The 37-year-old is now plying his trade for Al-Nassr following his explosive Manchester United exit and a disastrous World Cup 2022 campaign.

Ronaldo scored his first Al-Nassr goal on Friday, scoring from the penalty spot in the 2-2 draw with Al Fateh.
