Netflix is hit by a major worldwide outage and no one knows what to do

We can handle it (just about) when Twitter goes down temporarily, or Facebook, or WhatsApp or Snapchat, but Netflix going down is an outage too far – as would-be viewers found out on Monday (June 11).

Yep, Netflix subscribers around the world were all thrown back to a world without binge-watching when both the site and the app suffered outages, leaving viewers unable to stream a single thing without an error message popping up.

The official Netflix customer service account acknowledged the problem and added that it was “investigating” the issue.

“We are aware of members having trouble streaming on all devices,” they wrote. “We are investigating the issue and appreciate your patience.”

Needless to say, a lot of people had a lot of reactions to the fact that Netflix was suddenly taken away from them:

Fortunately, the service wasn’t gone for *too* long and just an hour and three minutes – or roughly three episodes of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, in bingeing terms – after first tweeting that they were investigating the problem, eventually Netflix tweeted to say that the issue had been resolved.

“The streaming issues we reported earlier have now been resolved,” the update read. “Thank you for your patience, and as always, happy streaming!”

If you need us, we’ll be rewatching Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to try and figure out what that cliffhanger means.
