If you’ve been living without a Freeview signal at home, you could be owed a £50 voucher to spend at Currys. In early August, a huge blaze at the Bilsdale transmitter, located on the North York Moors, wiped out Freeview for thousands of homes. As many as 500,000 properties in the North East were impacted by the outage, which left users without access to popular channels from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 as well as radio stations vanishing from the airwaves. Despite the best efforts from Freeview and Arqiva, which manages the transmitters used for Freeview and DAB, some 16,000 households remain without signal. Those homeowners can now claim a free £50 voucher.
