Twitter down as thousands of users complain they’re unable to access website

Twitter is down for thousands of users, as reports have come in of people unable to access the social media giant's website.

Technology troubleshooting website DownDetector reported a huge spike in issues on the site at around 10.30pm on Thursday evening.

A live outage map on the site shows the platform is experiencing issues across the world, but the majority of complaints have been reported in the UK and the US.

Of the problems, 68% have been linked to the website, 19% to the iOS app on iPhones, and 11% on the Android app.

Users trying to access the Twitter desktop site were presented with an error message.
