Arrest made in homicide involving human remains found in suitcases in Denver

A man has been arrested as a homicide suspect in a grisly case involving human remains being found in two suitcases along a trail in southwest Denver.

Benjamin David Satterthwaite, 28, is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder, according to police.

The remains were discovered Dec. 29 in the 1700 block of South Java Way, according to police.

On New Year’s Day, officers responded to a residence in the 2800 block of South Federal Boulevard on a medical call. There they found evidence and a crime scene consistent to the  homicide case and after further investigation Satterthwaite was arrested on Friday, according to a news release.

The homicide victim, a man, has not yet been positively identified. Investigators, however, believe the know the victim’s identity and that he and Satterthwaite know each other.

The case file has been sealed, police said.
