Axe-wielding man terrorises McDonald’s customers after woman’s rejection
A man who ran amok with an axe in a New York McDonald’s later bragged about the success of a viral video showing him smashing up the restaurant.
New Yorker Michael Palacios was arrested after he produced an axe from his backpack at around 2.30am on Saturday (September 17) and smashed a large glass panel and several tables and walls.
Bystanders told reporters that Palacios was visibly drunk, and had lost his temper after trying to chat up a fellow customer who rejected his advances.

One of them, an Uber Eats delivery driver who gave his name as Ruben G, described how Palacios had been knocked back by the woman.
“So basically he got into an argument with a girl,” he told the New York Post, “and then the girl rejected him. She didn’t want to talk to him"
“He kept going at her," Ruben added. "That’s when the guys she was with stepped in and they started arguing. It all led to that”.
“He was trying to talk to her and whatever,” Ruben said. “He was asking for her number, where she was from, and I guess she felt some way.
“She replied back in a certain manner that she didn’t want to give too much info and he kept pushing on.”
He added that Palacios appeared to be drunk: I can smell the liquor off him”.

At one point three other customers set about Palacios, beating him over the head. He appeared to ignore them for a short time, shrugging off the punches, until he suddenly pulled the axe from his bag.
He shattered a floor-to-ceiling glass panel before hacking at a number of tables and walls.
A staff member recalled: “Bro, there was a glass here and a glass there. He smashed both of them. He broke the table in half with the axe.”

He then turned on one of the three customers that had been hitting him, slapping him around the face before yelling at a terrified woman sitting nearby: “Don’t be afraid of me, be afraid of him!”
Palacios then left the McDonald’s and cycled away, but was soon picked up by police.
He was charged with criminal mischief, three counts of menacing and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Speaking to reporters later, Palacios said he was proud of the the millions of views the clip had generated on social media — where he was being called the “axe man.”
